About The Bands…

Spendtime Palace:
Previously known as Playdate, Spendtime Palace is a tight-knit group of five Costa Mesa kids who have revently been pushing the boundaries of the Southern California music scene. Formed in 2012,  this ragtag bundle progressed from a High School party band into a downright fan-favorite. Besides being featured in magazines and websites such as GQ and Billboard, they have also worked alongside to up-and-coming directors like Finn Wolfhard, Iris Apatow and Josh Ovalle. The hype floating around this bunch is undeniable, but the real magic lies between every measure they write. If you don’t believe us, go see them for yourself.

MainMan:
Dwelling somewhere between the grandiose rock of Pink Floyd, the experimental staccato of Built To Spill and the shuffling funk of Earth, Wind & Fire lies MainMan, a Southern California quartet born from frustrated prior incarnations and longtime friendship. Their debut EP “Mistaker” released Mar. 3 2017 features the first single “W.W.H.” is a “…true departure from the ordinary.” (President of Showbiz). Singer Morgan Demeter’s plaintive and urgent vocals alternately soothe and jar as he wrestles with themes ranging from understanding the human experience to examining the relationships that both comfort and torture us. Backed by former Bear On Fire members Chris Mintz-Plasse and Nick Chamian, and The Hammerhead’s Ryan Dean, Demeter’s melodies float among ethereal yet strangely familiar tones. Indeed what truly draws you into MainMan’s songs is their musicality; originality and knack for making the unpredictable seem effortless.

Happy Hollows:
Art-rock duo Happy Hollows was founded by two polar opposites. Free-spirited guitarist Sarah Negahdari initially met bassist Charlie Mahoney at a Los Angeles strip mall where she was reading Tarot cards to pay bills; he’d just arrived from Washington, DC to pursue a Ph.D. Yet the two clicked as friends, and years later they’ve toured across the country and become a beloved staple of Los Angeles’ underground music scene.
Sarah has earned a reputation as a commanding frontwoman, wowing audiences with her blistering guitar playing and charming them with her earnest, expressive, and emotive energy. Sarah’s magnetic stage presence and striking musical prowess helped put Happy Hollows on the map when the band released their debut album, Spells, to critical acclaim. Pitchfork raved that Sarah was “an obvious talent…let her hog the spotlight she so clearly deserves,” while Wired Magazine wrote “Sarah is simply murder on the guitar!” Between albums, Sarah filled in as the touring bassist for Silversun Pickups.
On Amethyst, the band’s second album, Happy Hollows immersed themselves in a newfound sense of sonic experimentation, incorporating melodic guitar lines and lush synthesizers to create soundscapes that propel Sarah’s soaring, spirited vocals. On the album, Boxx Magazine described Sarah as “an incredibly enthusiastic musician…full of energy, gratitude and dynamism.”
Concordia, the band’s third LP, was partly crafted in London with the help of legendary mixing engineer Gareth Jones (Grizzly Bear, Depeche Mode, Interpol), as well as in Los Angeles with producer Lewis Pesacov (Best Coast, Fool’s Gold, FIDLAR). A true blend of expressive, post-punk instrumentation and neo-new wave flair, Concordia employs analog synth melodies, angular guitars, and polyrhythmic drumming to anchor Sarah’s expressive vocals and lyrics that explore topics of redemption, triumph, loss, and freedom. Opening track “Way Home” — a Spotify New Music Friday selection — showcases the band’s energy and catchy song-writing ability. Concordia represents the culmination of Happy Hollows’ artistic progression, combining live dynamism and raw energy with a creative sonic palette and layered arrangements. The band has flown into new territory and found their voice with their most realized record yet.
