Take part in After Dark, LACMA’s teen-only bash, and enjoy a night of art and dancing under the stars. Explore filmmaker Guillermo del Toro’s extraordinary creative process in the exhibition Guillermo del Toro: At Home with Monsters. Outside the galleries, participate in art workshops, dance to a DJ and teen bands, and make new friends in the taco line.

Everything happens after the museum closes to the public, only for high school students!

How much does it cost?
Admission is free.

Who’s playing?
The teen band New Yesterday will play a set at 8:00pm. There will be a DJ providing music the rest of the evening. Email educate@lacma.org with any special song requests.

Will there be food?
Yes, bring cash for bites! $2 tacos, other snacks, and drinks

Can I come in costume?
Yes! Costumes (that don’t protrude or cause obstructed movement) are welcome, but please leave your large bags, backpacks, and props at home.

Can I bring in my backpack?
No. Backpacks are not allowed into the event.

Can parents come?
No. This is a high school age-only event. Parent date night! Parents can do drop-offs or make reservations to have dinner at LACMA’s restaurant, Ray’s, while the event takes place.

Who can come?
Teens in high school. Guests must bring valid school ID. Sorry, no college teens.

What if I don’t have a high school ID?
Bring a photo ID that has your birthdate, such as a California ID or passport, or a note from a teacher, parent, or guardian.

Is the event supervised?
Yes! Museum and security staff will chaperone the evening. Local law enforcement will be present.

Can we leave and come back?
No. There are no in-and-out privileges.

Where can we get dropped off?
On Wilshire Boulevard. Event may reach capacity, so please ask your ride to wait in the nearby LACMA parking lot at Wilshire and Spaulding.

Where do I pick up my teen after the event?
We recommend planning ahead and agreeing on a pick-up plan before the event. The LACMA parking lot on the corner of Wilshire and Spaulding is the best place to pick up your teen. You can wait for your teen in the lot free of charge and avoid construction in front of LACMA.

How much is parking?
$14; free if you park after 7 pm. Recommended lot is located on the corner of Spaulding Avenue and Wilshire Boulevard.

What time is the event?
After Dark is from 7:30 to 10 pm. Teens will be allowed to line up starting at 5:30 pm.

This is a drug-free, smoke-free environment.
